When I can't think of what to say, I try to just think of something mundane that I want to remember.
Today, I want to remember how Beezus recounted her experience in Atrium (religious education class) earlier this week.
On the way home, she told me that she and two other girls had planned the prayer service. She easily detailed the parts of the service : Prayer, Song, Scripture, Silence, Petitions, Song. She also told me that during petitions she asked to prayers for her Gram (Mr. Quimby's mother) who is sick.
Ramona has been asking a lot of questions about people who are Jewish. I can see her mind trying to figure things out - how does someone not believe something that she finds so easily to be true, after I had said that people who are Jewish believe that Jesus was a person, but don't believe that he was the King of Kings or the Lord of Lords (that's a phrase from a song she likes). Her statement is almost exactly what Beezus said at this age, which is something to the effect of "Well, I can just tell them about Jesus and then they will believe."
For the record, my explanation to them is always "Different people believe different things."
Perhaps not mundane after all.
