I love my neighbors - I mean I LOOOOVVVVVEEEE them. On either side of us are couples who have children our age and they are just so lovely. Across from us is another young family, perfect for swapping "OMGit'sthemiddleofthenightpartnerisoutoftownandIneedttakechildtotheER" duty with. It's nice to have them to depend on as I did earlier this week when Ruthie stumbled out of a chair and wouldn't put any weight on her foot. I called our pediatrician's office and after they suggested I take Ruthie to a hospital close by BUT DOES NOT HAVE A PEDIATRICIAN ON DUTY IN THE ER I decided on my own to drive 20 minutes down the road to CHILDREN'S NATIONAL MEDICAL CENTER!!! (Perhaps the after hours person AT A PEDIATRICIAN'S OFFICE) should be trained on which hospitals have pediatricians in the ER. What a thought!

Anyway, my neighbors came over while I was waiting for my sister to arrive and Esther didn't even blink when I told her I was leaving and the dad B. was going to stay and watch her until Aunt Susan arrived. That kind of thing feels really, really good to me.

I have traded many a "drive to the ER" or stay at home with the non-ER kids with my neighbors! They are truly a blessing! So how is her foot? And how was the ER? That can be a wild one!

How is little Ruthie and how did she do while waiting in the ER? I know how long those visits can be. SMART move to go to the hospital with a doctor on duty who actually deals with children!
