Money Well Spent: Addendum

Oh! Mamabird's comment on Money Well Spent inspired me to make a clarification (okay, brag) about the rate for my new gym membership.

My sister Sarah is a FIERCE negotiator on this sort of thing. For contrast, David and I were once trapped in the sales office at a Toyota dealer for 2 hours when we didn't even WANT to buy a car. So, I got her advice and offered over the neighborhood "parents of young children" listserv to go talk to the sales people at the new gym and ask all the questions everyone wanted to know. I read some articles on the Internet about how gyms try to scam with you and I went in well-armed but with an act of a "frumpy, schumpy" mom and when they asked me my name, I replied "It's Mrs. Smith" (except I used my real name obviously). I was all like "Please, we are so NOT on a first name basis." So, anyhoo, because I kind of, sort of, was part of a group (I clarified it wasn't an official club or anything) we got to use the CORPRATE RATE which was $25 per month compared to the regular rate of $62 per month. Oh, and if you happen to know that they offer that rate to everyone, please don't tell me.

Pretty thrifty, Thrift Store Mama!

You go, girl.

BTW, who does that expression remind you of, Ellen? HINT: think campus ministry at CUA.

yes, rm did use that expression, but i was thinking of one of his cronies-- taller, rounder and more effeminate (not that there's anything wrong with being effeminate)!

OK, I am totally going to have to invoke you and your sister (just quit my horribly expensive gym that has NO childcare) when I re-up in the fall. Inspiration!
